Q&A
Below are some common questions you may have about <3 Notes and the services we provide. If you still find you have unanswered questions, please feel free to contact us.
Why do I need <3 Notes to send the messages?
We believe that every opportunity to send positive messages reinforcing strong values, moral character, and making good choices in life is a valuable one. Although we encourage you to regularly talk with your children about values and making good choices, our program offers a third-party advantage that is consistent and delivers strategically-planned daily messages with one purpose in mind. Over time the consistency of the messages will have a lasting impact on the teens and young adults who receive them. Combining this technology with your own discussions will only increase the probability that when faced with decisions they will make good choices.
What if my teen or young adult child decides to ignore the messages?
It is possible to ignore a text message. However, we have developed a communication strategy that combines humor, trivia, quotes from famous people, and other types of messages, all designed to generate interest and ensure maximum impact of the overall program objectives.
What if my son or daughter tells me they don't like receiving the daily messages?
It is very possible that you might hear some initial complaints about receiving the text messages. It's different and it might seem like an invasions of their personal space. However, we have found that given some time most teens and young adults begin to appreciate the daily messages. Sooner or later they will encounter messages that inspire and encourage them in some way, reinforce their values during a tough time, or simply remind them that someone does love and care for them. We all know our kids don't always like everything that's good for them, but in time they are likely to appreciate the value. Challenge your son or daughter to give it a chance for a few months and they might just discover something they'll come to enjoy receiving every day.
Are the messages the same for everyone?
We have a unique communication strategy for individual age groups and genders. Although some of the messages may be universal, the content of many messages and our overall strategy is specifically developed to address the unique needs and interests of each group individually to have the maximum impact. In the future we anticipate other choices will be available to meet the specific needs of more individuals.
How many message do you send a day?
We deliver one text message per day. Our strategy is to have a daily presence, but not become overpowering or annoying. Some days we'll simply send a funny message, others will be more serious. All messages work together to inspire teens and young adults to make good choices in everyday life.
What time of day do you send messages?
Our messages are sent at different times of the day depending on various factors. The day of the week, time of year, age of recipient, and other factors are all taken into consideration when scheduling messages. Our goal is to deliver messages when they will have the greatest impact. We try to avoid sending messages when school is in session, or during the middle of the night, although it is not possible for us to accommodate ever individual schedule.
If the cell phone is off when a message is sent (e.g. during school, church, work, etc.) The message will automatically be held and delivered when the cell phone is turned back on.
Can I edit the messages?
We are sorry, but it is not possible for you to customize or edit the messages we send. We are committed to send messages that are age appropriate, respectful, clean from inappropriate language, and without political agenda. Our messages are intended to support the values that parents teach their children at home: Wisdom, Respect, Gratitude, Self-control, Perseverance, Courage, Encouragement, Compassion and Integrity. If you believe we have sent a message that was inappropriate, we encourage you to contact us.
